Spring Business Reception highlights commitment to supporting local communities

Last Wednesday, the Community Foundation hosted a ‘Spring Business Reception’ generously sponsored by Muckle LLP. The event shone a light on several local businesses who have shown a commitment to supporting their local communities through the Community Foundation.

John Hollingsworth, Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Community Foundation explained:

“We’re fortunate to work with some of the North East’s most respected businesses and the reception gave us the opportunity to celebrate our partnerships with Ringtons, Procter & Gamble and Muckle LLP. Organisations who are strong advocates of philanthropy in the region and have demonstrated a commitment to meeting the needs of the local communities for many years.”

As part of the event, Hugh Welch from Muckle LLP and Colin Smith from Ringtons spoke about their history of giving and working with the Foundation.

Hugh Welch, Senior Partner at Muckle LLP said:

“We have had a long relationship with the Community Foundation through the Muckle Fund, which has distributed over £600,000 in grants over the last 21 years. Muckle is proud to give 1% of our annual profits into the fund which directly ends up benefiting charitable and voluntary organisations across the region. With the Foundation’s knowledge and expertise we know that the money is going where it is most needed and I’m certain our whole ESG programme would not be as advanced as it is without the valuable input that we have had from the Foundation.”

Colin Smith, Director at Ringtons added:

“Ringtons have partnered with the Community Foundation for over 20 years. The donations we have made over the years have been centrally managed with other donor funds bringing a critical mass efficiency to investment and administration. We also favour the endowment model that ensures our capital generates income for good causes in perpetuity. The Community Foundation team have the knowledge and insight to match us with suitable recipients and place funds where they are most needed in the community”.

Rounding up the event, John Hollingsworth took the opportunity to preview two exciting new initiatives that will be launched later in the year. They will be officially announced in due course.
