Roles at the Community Foundation and opportunities to give time to local charities.

Recruitment of individual and business member trustees

At Community Foundation North East we have a membership comprising individuals, businesses, public bodies and voluntary organisations. Our Board of trustees is made up of people drawn from all four groups, plus co-optees. With Lucy Winskell and Andrew Haigh retiring from our Board at our AGM this autumn, we have two trustee vacancies: one for an individual member, and one for a business member. We’re now inviting nominations from and of eligible candidates.

To be eligible for the individual member vacancy, you must be a member of the Community Foundation in a personal capacity, or willing to join.

To be eligible for the business member vacancy, you must be an employee or director of a business which is a Community Foundation member, or willing to join.

If you are not already, you or your business can become a member and then be nominated for one of the vacancies – information about joining is here.

We are keen to hear from people with a wide range of lived and learned experience. We’re especially interested if you can bring any of the following:

  • Knowledge of/networks in Northumberland or south of Tyne
  • Experience of encouraging/enabling the giving of money, time or expertise
  • Networks among businesses and professional firms in the region

We strive to be diverse and inclusive, with a Board and staff team that broadly reflects the people and places we serve. In line with our diversity benchmarks, we encourage nominations of and from: disabled people; lesbian, gay and bisexual people; and people from non-professional or working-class backgrounds.

Trustee Match and Skills Match

Trustee and Skills Match at the Community Foundation is a free service facilitating the recruitment and support of individuals wanting to offer their time, expertise, lived experience and fresh perspectives to local charities and community organisations in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. Individuals can offer their time on a project by project basis or give a longer term commitment as a trustee. In particular we support individuals in their first trustee role.
