Lucia Bridgeman DL, trustee

Partner, Fallodon estate

Lucia moved to Fallodon in Northumberland in 2006 with her husband and children to run the family estate and develop a holiday cottage business. She was High Sheriff of Northumberland in 2024-25 where she engaged with charities and small organisations throughout the county.

Lucia has been involved in education since leaving Durham University in 1990.  She taught in London, Sydney and New York and, since moving to Northumberland, has worked with the Country Trust bringing school children from low-income neighbourhoods to farms to build their connection with food, farming and countryside experiences. She also volunteered at Action Language in Newcastle teaching asylum seekers and refugees and spent two years teaching English to Ukrainian refugees.

In 2025 she was made a Deputy Lieutenant of Northumberland and is trustee of a contemporary dance company which works with rural communities.  Lucia supports the National Garden Scheme and the Red Cross, alongside co-ordinating other charitable events at her home.  She has been a parish councillor and primary school governor.
