Helping Shape the Future of Arts and Culture in Newcastle

As part of its work to support arts and culture across the city, Newcastle City Council’s Arts Development Team is looking to connect with community organisations, local venues and neighbourhood networks who are interested in creativity, culture and community life in their area.

At Community Foundation North East, we value the partnerships that help strengthen communities across the region and are pleased to share this opportunity with organisations working at a local level across Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Council’s Arts Development Team is keen to hear from:

  • Community groups and organisations that meet regularly around a shared interest
  • Organisations engaging local residents through accessible creative and cultural activity
  • Groups with an established presence in their neighbourhood
  • Communities already delivering creative activity and interested in developing it further

The aim is to begin conversations with communities across the city about what culture means locally, what activity already exists, and where there may be opportunities to support future creative and cultural development.

At this stage, the focus is on listening and relationship-building. This is not a funding application process, and there is no expectation for groups to deliver activity immediately.

Community groups, venues and local networks interested in being part of the conversation are invited to add their details to the Community Groups Database here

Artists and arts organisations can sign up separately via the Artistic Database here
