About The Ringtons Fund

The purpose of the Ringtons Fund is to support charitable organisations working with people experiencing hardship and/or disadvantage it is keen to see applications supporting one or more of the following: – children; disability; family; older people; poverty, and women.

Organisations with an average annual turnover of  between £250k and £1m, based and operating within Tyne & Wear and Northumberland can be supported with grants of up to £5,000, mainly for activities, materials and equipment required to deliver projects.

There is a preference for the Ringtons Fund to support the entire request rather than contributing to a larger amount.

 

Criteria

In addition to the usual Community Foundation criteria (see website)

  • The charitable organisation must be based and working within Tyne & Wear and/or Northumberland
  • Have an average income of between £250k and £1m (based on the last 3 years)
  • The project must be able to start within 3 months of receipt of the grant
  • The amount applied for must mean the project can go ahead (not part funding for a larger project)

What the fund will support

  • Direct activity costs including staffing costs, volunteer expenses and a contribution to overheads
  • Project resources and equipment

What the fund won't support

  • Statutory activities including lessons or curriculum time teaching costs or resources
  • Foreign travel
  • Items given for permanent personal use (e.g. branded clothing; technology)
  • IT equipment and technology
  • Medical treatments or therapies
  • In receipt of a Ringtons Fund grant within the past 18 months

Closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 16th February 2026.

The Ringtons advisory panel are expected to hold the grant decision meeting in March 2026.
