Having awarded our final grants of the year, we are delighted to announce that our funding exceeded £8.9m, which is £0.5m up on last year.
The figure reflects some significant funding partnerships including the with North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and The North East Combined Authority on the Mayor’s Opportunity Fund; Gateshead Council on its VCSE and other funds; Newcastle City Council on the Culture Investment Fund; UK Community Foundations and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on Know Your Neighbourhood.
Rob Williamson, Chief Executive at the Community Foundation said:
“Our partnerships – and the scale of our funding – wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of individual, family and business donors whose philanthropy is at the heart of our work. It’s their generosity which has built our endowment, which generated more than £5m of the funding we’ve provided during the year for small local charities and community organisations.
“And the best news is that, whatever partnerships we broker, the endowment continues as our bedrock, growing as a forever community asset, and guaranteeing our support for local causes for generations to come.
“Huge thanks to our donors and partners, to my remarkable team and brilliant Board, but above all to the amazing local organisations we support whose work makes a difference every day across our area.”
In the coming weeks the Community Foundation will announce plans for the future and our new strategy from 2025.
