Celebrating one year of being a Living Wage Employer

The Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland are delighted to celebrating a year of being an accredited as a Living Wage Employer.

Our Living Wage commitment ensures that everyone receive a minimum hourly wage of £10.90 in the UK (the equivalent is £11.95 in London). Both rates are significantly higher than the Government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £10.18 per hour. In the North East, nearly a quarter of all jobs (22%) pay less than the real Living Wage – around 213,000 jobs.

Rob Williamson, Chief Executive at the Community Foundation said:

“After a year of being a real Living Wage Employer we are still committed to fair pay for working for us. We see this as part of our wider commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and hope we can encourage others to take a similar step”.
