Community Foundation North East welcomed members of the North East Giving Network and other guests to its annual Giving Event last month, celebrating the power of collective giving and awarding over £28,000 to organisations across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.
Now in its eighth year, the Giving Network brings together individuals and businesses who want to make a difference in their local communities. By pooling donations, members are able to provide meaningful funding to organisations tackling some of the North East’s most pressing challenges. Community Foundation North East then matches members’ contributions, up to £1,000 each year.
This year’s Giving Event focused on widening access to opportunity, showcasing organisations working to improve educational attainment, develop skills and experiences, and remove barriers to learning, training and employment.
Thanks to the generosity of Giving Network members, a total of £28,762 was awarded to:
- Bright Futures – £7,746
- Bringing Words to Life – £6,746
- Hand Of – £7,154
- Reviving the Heart of the West End – £7,116

“The Giving Event is always one of the highlights of our year because it brings together people who share a genuine commitment to making a difference in the region. Members hear directly from organisations working on the ground, gaining a real understanding of both the challenges communities face and the opportunities that local philanthropy can create”
The organisations shared inspiring examples of how additional funding will help strengthen their services and create more opportunities for the people they support.

As a relatively small organisation, this support means so much to us and allows us to continue the work we pride ourselves on carrying out in the region.”
The North East Giving Network was established to make philanthropy more accessible, offering an opportunity for people to begin their giving journey while becoming part of a community committed to creating positive change across the region. From as little as £30 per month, members’ donations are combined and then matched to maximise impact for local charities and community groups.
