Championing Women and Girls at the HR&D Awards

Community Foundation North East was proud to be the charity partner at this year’s HR&D Awards, hosted by NET, helping to shine a spotlight on the North East Women and Girls Fund and the vital work it enables across the region. Attendees donated over £3,000 to the fund on the night!

The awards brought together businesses, organisations and professionals from across the North East to celebrate excellence in HR and development. A highlight of the evening was hearing from Community Foundation North East trustee Sarah Glendinning, who spoke about the importance of investing in women and girls. Sarah’s address highlighted both the challenges many women and girls continue to face, and the power of philanthropy to create lasting change.

Against the backdrop of the event’s vibrant carnival theme, we were delighted to connect with supporters, partners and business leaders from across the region, sharing conversations about how collective giving can support brighter futures for women and girls.

John Hollingsworth, Chief Philanthropy and Development Officer at Community Foundation North East, said:

“The HR&D Awards provided a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the North East Women and Girls Fund and the impact it is having across our region. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, contributed prizes to the raffle, and took the time to learn more about the fund. For more than 25 years, donors have helped create opportunities, improve lives and drive lasting change for women and girls. The support shown on the night was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together behind a shared purpose.”

As part of its ongoing efforts to grow support for the North East Women and Girls Fund, Community Foundation North East will host a special panel event for professional advisors and business leaders at St Mary’s Heritage Centre on Tuesday 7 July. Bringing together lawyers, financial advisors, wealth managers and business leaders, the event will explore how professional advisors can help drive lasting change for women and girls across the North East.
