The North East Environment Fund was established by a group of donors who wanted to give back to the local environment. The environment is fundamental to the wellbeing of people and communities, and its protection is a shared responsibility. Environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss have significant local impacts and require collective action.
The fund supports grassroots projects that protect and enhance the natural environment across the region, enabling practical solutions that deliver lasting benefits for both people and place. The fund prioritises projects that deliver practical, locally driven solutions to environment challenges, strengthen community capacity and encourage long-term stewardship of the natural environment.
