Celebrating Civil Society at the North East Charity Awards

Community Foundation North East was proud to support the North East Charity Awards as an associate partner, alongside Point North. The annual event, held at The FED in Gateshead and delivered in partnership with Brewin Dolphin, brought together charities, social enterprises and community organisations from across the region to celebrate the incredible work of the third sector.

Hosted by broadcaster Anna Foster, the evening was a vibrant celebration of the people and organisations who dedicate themselves to making life better for others. From grassroots initiatives to established charities, the awards recognised a wide range of achievements, with winners including Impact Family Services, The Junction Foundation and many more who exemplify the strength and spirit of the North East.

The event was a powerful reminder of the resilience, compassion and collaboration that define our region. It highlighted the efforts of those working behind the scenes to support communities, often in the face of significant challenges. The atmosphere was one of celebration, but also reflection, acknowledging how far the sector has come, and how much more there is still to do.

Our Chief Executive, Rob Williamson, joined Point North to present the Special Recognition Award to the North East Anti-Racism Coalition. This award honours organisations that go above and beyond to bring people together and drive meaningful change. The Coalition’s work in promoting racial justice and community cohesion has had a profound impact, particularly during times of division and difficulty.

As a funder, we understand that the work of the VCSE sector is often unseen, yet essential. These awards offer a vital opportunity to shine a light on that work, to celebrate the individuals and organisations who make a difference every day and to reaffirm our commitment to supporting the sector’s growth and sustainability.

The North East Charity Awards not only celebrate success, they inspire us all to keep pushing forward, to build stronger communities and to ensure that the third sector continues to thrive.
