We are delighted to welcome two new members of the team at the Community Foundation. Hamish Carter and Michelle Hardie started their new roles last week.

Hamish joined as a Funding Co-ordinator. He will support the Foundation’s grant making by assessing, monitoring and reporting grant requests from charities and community organisations in line with the Foundation’s policies, priorities and the requirements of our funds.

He originally moved to Newcastle to complete a BA in Politics with Philosophy at Newcastle University.  During that time he undertook a 6 month paid internship researching the relationship between the EU, Brexit and the British press. Prior to joining the Foundation he worked as a Case Manager for Universal Credit assessing and aiding a caseload of over 1,000 claimants in their applications.

Michelle joined as a Philanthropy Advisor and in her role she will be responsible for promoting and supporting philanthropy by providing advice and services to people and businesses that have set up funds. She will undertake grant assessments, monitoring and reporting and will support research, data analysis and the development of improved donor services.

Michelle has a background of working in Development and relationship management in the heritage and cultural sectors. She previously worked at the Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust as their Corporate Development Manager, looking after their business membership scheme, sponsors and corporate partners. Prior to that she worked as a Trading Development Officer at Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums.
