We are two days into Volunteer’s Week, a week where organisations across the country take the time to recognise and thank the millions of volunteers who make an invaluable contribution to their work. No more so than in the charity sector, where small local charities are often reliant on the time their volunteers can give.
If you have some time to give, expertise to share and an ambition to help charities in your region, there are ways the Community Foundation can help you do this: Trustee Match and Skills Match.
Trustee Match at the Community Foundation links talented individuals with charities across the region, seeking new trustees. Many of our Trustee Match members are pursuing their first trustee role and we nurture new voices in the boardroom to help organisations to better represent the communities they serve and match individuals to causes they feel passionate about.
Radha, used the scheme to become a trustee:
“The Trustee Match Scheme is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who wishes to join a Board, and support organisations across the North East. It can be difficult finding the right organisation and fully understanding your responsibilities, but the Community Foundation has great resources to help everyone.”
Andy Roberts, Chief Executive of Streetwise, explained how it benefitted them:
“I would like to thank you for sending us people who are interested in being Trustees, it has strengthened our board and helped broaden our skill mix.”
Skills Match links individuals and business partners with charities to provide a wide range of pro-bono support on topics including strategic planning, HR and digital media. Support is offered through a combination of one-to-one consultation, webinars and workshops. We are thrilled to be working with Accenture, Muckle LLP, Sail Creative, Wrigley’s LLP and Young Trustees Network, in addition to independent consultants.
One of the organisations who’ve worked closely on this scheme is Accenture:
“We are thrilled to be working alongside Community Foundation. So far this relationship has helped us widen our charity network massively, we are incredibly grateful for all of the new connections provided by Colette from Community Foundation. We are looking forwards to the future and the exciting opportunities this holds”.
