Mark Pierce
Mark is responsible for ensuring data is gathered, used and shared to support the Foundation’s strategy and goals. He leads on learning from the Foundation’s grant-making and related fields, alongside running our own research, including Vital Signs and overseeing research we commission, including Third Sector Trends.
In 1982 Mark became involved in the voluntary and community sector as a volunteer for his local youth and community centre. His subsequent career as a paid worker included developing, managing and delivering welfare rights provision, innovative services for people with learning disabilities and a range of community development initiatives. He joined the Community Foundation in 2008, initially as a social policy manager, and became part of the executive group in 2011.
Mark has a PGCE in post compulsory education and training, and has taught community development at the Universities of Wales and Durham.
