The North East Endowment for Musical Traditions exists to support activities that encourage engagement with traditional folk music song and dance. In the past, grants have supported projects such as as a youth ceilidh band, folk festivals and clog dancing sessions.
For this round we are changing the focus of the fund from previous call outs and we would like to invite applications from individuals who are working in the many and varied disciplines of traditional music and have an artistic idea they would like to pursue. This might be a performance piece, an installation, a new piece of music or something in between! It might be that only the seeds of an idea exist at this stage, or it might be a fully formed plan. However, there should be some consideration of who an eventual audience would be for any resulting product.
You can apply online for grants of between £750 and £1500. Please do take the time to read the Grants for Individuals application form help notes. As well as the application form, you are encouraged to also upload a further document of no more than 2 pages of A4 that can give further information about your idea, your relevant experience and any other artists you might collaborate with. Decisions will be made by a panel that includes the fund holders and independent musicians working in the field of traditional music.
