About the fund

The Frederick Milburn Fund supports projects related to activities on the river, those involving communities situated on the river or projects with a link to the heritage of the river i.e. the shipyards or coal mining.

Applications are welcome for projects that involve purchase of equipment, building repairs or specific activities that create a tangible long-lasting outcome for the community.  In recent years the fund has, for example, helped purchase boats for sea cadets, provided funding to repair a boat jetty, helped restore an old lifeboat and supported the development of a historical archive.

The fund prefers to support grassroots community groups (with an annual income less than £100,000) where the grant will cover a significant proportion of the overall project cost and where there will be a tangible legacy for the local community.

Applicants must be registered charities. Please apply by clicking the Apply Online button above.
