About the Northern Powergrid Fund

The Northern Powergrid Fund makes awards to recognised charities or community groups located within Tyne and Wear or Northumberland.

The Fund may support projects which will be delivered at grassroots level and that include activities that support vulnerable communities to thrive; particularly those located in ex-industrial areas or rural areas of Northumberland or Tyne & Wear.

Examples of suitable projects include small scale community improvement projects; informal skills development projects; energy efficiency improvements; out-of-school educational activities and/or learning linked to the environment.

A project must be at a stage where it can start within 3 months and be completed within 12 months of the grant award. The funding must be used for a specific project and not a donation to a larger project cost.

Grant decisions are expected to be announced in late March 2022.
