About The Platten Family Fund

The Platten Family Fund was established in 2014 with several very generous donations from a Blyth-based family. The Fund exists to support education and training projects, particularly around engineering, for the benefit of people living in the North East of England.

What is funding available for

After having expanded its remit for the last two years, the Fund has refocused its purposes.

Applications are invited from organisations seeking to provide STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities, as well as training in the STEM subjects, which can also include vocational-based and similar trades, in addition to celebrating STEM heritage.

Applications are invited from charitable organisations to apply for a grant of between £1,000 and £10,000.

Please be advised that requests for staffing costs should be well justified and not make up a significant portion of the grant budget.

How to apply

Applications will be considered at the end of every quarter (in September, December, March, and June) and the programme will remain rolling until an as-yet unspecified future date.
