Future generations of young people across North East England will benefit from quality arts and cultural activity, thanks to a new fund at the Community Foundation.
The Culture Bridge North East Fund was established earlier this year, with a founding gift of £100,000 from Culture Bridge North East. The gift was matched by the Community Foundation through its Murray Match scheme to create a £150,000 endowment fund, which is now open for applications.
Grants of between £250 and £1,500 are available to support working relationships between arts practitioners or cultural organisations with schools or other youth settings. Priority will be given to projects working with young people where quality arts activity and provision is an issue.
Programme Manager at Culture Bridge, Elvie Thompson says: “While the grants available are small, we know teachers and artists can use these practical, manageable amounts to make great things happen, so we’re confident the fund can have a big and lasting impact on the lives of young people across the region.
“Culture Bridge North East is a temporary programme, and we’re incredibly proud that the fund will go on long after Culture Bridge ceases to be, so that positive impact can continue to be felt, and we’d like to thank the Community Foundation for helping us make that a reality.”
Over time, the Culture Bridge North East Fund will grow to create a lasting foundation of arts provision for future generations of young people. If you would like to more about how you can support arts initiatives on your doorstep visit the Community Foundation giving pages.
The deadline for current applications is 9am on Wednesday 18 October 2017.
