The Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund has now surpassed £500,000, thanks to a generous contribution to The Fund of £100,000 from the Virgin Money Foundation.
The Fund aims to support community organisations to support older people and other vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 outbreak, and in phase two (recovery), support local charities whose work or income has been affected to get back on their feet.
Rob Williamson, Chief Executive of the Community Foundation, said:
“We are delighted that the Virgin Money Foundation is the latest donor to our Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund. This support has helped our fund to surpass a milestone of £500,000 and will ensure that we will be able to make more grants to reach the organisations helping vulnerable people on the ground.”
Nancy Doyle-Hall, Executive Director at the Virgin Money Foundation added:
“We’re delighted to support the Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund at the Community Foundation. The Virgin Money Foundation is based in Newcastle, we care passionately about our local communities and see this Fund as a fantastic way for us to get money where it is needed at this crucial time.”
Thank you to Virgin Money Foundation for helping us reach this huge milestone, and ensure that more charities can be supported that are affected by the crisis.
