The Community Foundation’s CEO, Rob Williamson, has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear by the Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Susan M. Winfield OBE.

The Lord-Lieutenant is Her Majesty The Queen’s representative in Tyne & Wear. The Lord-Lieutenant carries out a range of duties, working closely with voluntary services, benevolent organisations and local businesses. The Lord-Lieutenant appoints Deputy Lieutenants from a wide variety of backgrounds who provide specialist local knowledge, assist the Lord-Lieutenant in her duties and advise on community issues.

Rob was among 10 new Deputy Lieutenants with backgrounds in charities, the public sector, education business and the armed services who were formally commissioned at a ceremony held at HMS Calliope in Gateshead on 29 November 2021.

Rob Williamson said:

“The Community Foundation has always had a close relationship with the Lieutenancies in both Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. So it is a great honour to be appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in Tyne and Wear. I look forward to supporting the Lord-Lieutenant in her duties, bringing knowledge and networks from across the charity and philanthropy fields in our area.”
