The Community Foundation is a long-time supporter of Foundations Furniture, which supplies recycled furniture to people in need in Gateshead. In 2017 this has included three grants totalling £22,733 from the Guy Readman Endowment, P&G and Gateshead Housing Company funds.

Jane, a single parent with one child from Gateshead, described how Foundations Furniture helped her after her house was left water damaged: “We were left homeless, with nothing, as we did not have home insurance. Foundations was a huge help. Their friendly staff put together a package to help us re-establish our little home. It was a huge relief both financially and emotionally.”
