Whickham Veterans Bowls Club received £500 from the Akzo Nobel International Paint Fund at the Community Foundation to help them pay their annual council green fees at Chase Park.

The cost of the fees was met through a members subscription charge of £50.00 per year, however due to inflation, the Council increased its green fees meaning the cost was starting to become prohibitive to Whickham Veterans who are predominantly older people living on low incomes. The club is delighted that the Community Foundation and Akzo Nobel International Paint are able to cover there fees meaning that the club can continue to exist and assist its members to take part in a healthy, outdoor activity that allows them to socialise with their fellow bowlers.
