As President of the Community Foundation I have seen for many years the fantastic work our charitable sector does in communities across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

I am full of admiration for the work these organisations and their army of volunteers do every single day. Even more so in the current difficult times we are living in when their work is of even greater importance. For their dedication and resilience in supporting some of the most vulnerable in our communities I want to say a huge ‘Thank You’.

I am proud that the Community Foundation has set up its own Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to help support groups to continue to deliver and indeed increase activity. It is excellent news that the Foundation is also distributing grants from the National Emergency Trust in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Thank you all for your hard work and determination to help us beat this current crisis and I hope to see you all at a Community Foundation event in the future.
