Further details: Douglas Kellett was a Tyneside businessman who died in 1987. He owned much of the land on which Washington was built and also had business interests in Chester Le Street and Sri Lanka. Mr Kellett left his estate in trust to benefit his wife, during her lifetime and thereafter to charity, expressing an interest that it should help older people lead an active fulfilling retirement.

Community Foundation

The Kellett Fund has now been running for 11 years and there have been many developments in policy and practice since 1996 and we feel it is important to understand how the can fund continue to meet the needs of older people - both the existing needs and the newly expressed ones.

We have therefore decided to review the Kellett Fund and as part of this we have decided not to make grants in March 2009 but to wait until the review is complete so that the next grants reflect the findings.

If you would like to take part in the review please contact Mark Pierce, mp@communityfoundation.org.uk

Do call back to the website for news about the review and for the next grant opportunities.
