Open Data

The Community Foundation is committed to being as transparent as possible and we already publish an annual list of grants we make here.

We are now working with the 360Giving initiative to publish more detailed grant data alongside other funders. 360Giving aims to help UK grant makers to publish their data openly online, to an agreed data standard. Over time, the intention is that this information will help inform both grant makers and those looking for funding and will contribute to more effective grant making. Sharing and using open grants data relating to the North East is already helping us develop funder partnerships to raise awareness of issues in the region and activities to support existing and develop potential grantees.

We have used the 360Giving data standard to create a spreadsheet of all our grants awarded annually starting in 2015-16.

360Giving is developing tools that will help funders and fundraisers make use of grant data including GrantNav which enables people to search, filter and download across all the open data in the initiative for free. Try it now.

By publishing our data openly and in a standard format we hope to contribute to improved analysis of philanthropic giving.
