The Local Action on Global Issues Fund is to be rebranded as the Local Environmental Action Fund or LEAF.

The fund, which in its latest grants round supported local environmental projects totalling over £52,000, is making the change after three successful years as the Local Action on Global Issues Fund.

Groups to benefit from the recent grant round included Byker Bridge Housing Association who were awarded £10,000 to establish a community composting project and Newcastle Literary and Philosophical Society who were awarded £2,249 to install cycle racks and encourage people to choose sustainable transport options.
