Welcome to Community Foundation
The Community Foundation awards grants to voluntary organisations and community groups in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. In the last year we helped 1700 groups with grants totalling £7 million.
Our funds come from families and companies who share our vision of building stronger communities in the North East. By March 2008, they had contributed over £40 million to build a long term endowment fund.

We are very pleased that, with the support of Ward Hadaway, we are once again running the Voluntary Sector Entrepreneur of the Year award. The number of successful voluntary organisations and social enterprises in Tyne, Wear and Northumberland is testament to the entrepreneurial skill and inspiration that abounds in the sector and now there is an opportunity to recognise and applaud the very best individual efforts.
The award, worth £5,000 to the winner and their organisation, will be announced at the Community Foundation's Annual General Meeting in the autumn. In addition the winner will be the keynote speaker on an agreed subject of their choice at a specially convened seminar in Spring 2009.
Closing date for nominations is 1 September 2008.
