About the fund

Frederick Milburn Fund supports small, grassroots groups that have a project that will create a lasting legacy and will benefit communities associated with the traditional industries linked to the River Tyne.  Projects that have a direct link to the river today are preferred and the grant should cover the most, if not all, of the total cost.  Applications are welcome for projects that involve purchase of equipment, building repairs or specific activities that create a tangible long-lasting outcome for the community.  In recent years the fund has, for example, helped purchase boats for sea cadets, purchased a Defibrillator, provided funding to repair a boat jetty, helped restore an old lifeboat and supported the development of an archive.
