Why philanthropy?

Research shows that wealthy people and businesses want to know more about effective charitable giving. Each change in your client’s financial or family circumstances is an opportunity to talk about philanthropy. And there are many tax benefits to planned giving that your clients may wish to explore.

Why talk to us?

  • We are the hub for philanthropy in our area, working with nearly 250 individuals, families, businesses and other charities to support their giving. We can help you advise your clients on philanthropy and the role it can play during their lifetime and in their estate planning.
  • We are also professional grant-makers with over 20 years’ experience of local charities. We have expertise in local needs and so can ensure your clients’ gifts are targeted precisely and effectively.
  • We can match your clients’ charitable interests with local needs and offer them the opportunity to be genuinely involved in their communities.
  • We can ensure your clients’ gifts are tax efficient.

What can we offer your private clients?

  • We have a range of giving options, from a named fund (a cost-effective alternative to establishing a stand-alone trust), to regular and one-off donations and legacies.
  • We provide a dedicated service with an individual Fund Manager.
  • Our Board of Trustees governs our work. Adherence to charity laws and regulation and financial accounting is our responsibility.
  • We respect the requests of our donors and they can remain anonymous if they wish.

What can we offer your corporate clients?

  • Your client’s business can extend its social responsibility and corporate citizenship through a named fund that supports local groups and causes.
  • Named funds also promote the corporate brand, and can be a great tool for engaging staff.
  • We have excellent relationships with local press and can help your client maximise the PR value of their charitable activity.

What can we offer your charity clients?

  • If trustees’ original charitable objectives have been fulfilled, administration has become too time consuming or they wish to pass on their responsibility, we can receive transferred assets and maintain their charity’s purpose by setting up a named fund within the Community Foundation. The trustees can remain as advisors if they wish.
  • We can also provide grants administration to charities that need extra help in that area.
