General Information

The Community Foundation is a registered charity and limited company. It is managed by a broadly based Board of Directors. The current Chair is Hugh Welch, Senior Partner at Muckle LLP Solicitors.

In the financial year to March 2008, the Community Foundation managed £41m on behalf of more than 200 donor funds. We awarded £7m in grants to almost 1,700 local voluntary organisations.

Companies, individuals and families can set up their own charitable fund at the Community Foundation. These can support the special issues and causes that match their business or personal interests.

We advise on charitable giving and find the right projects for donors to support.

We handle all the administration involved in making charitable donations and ensure that it is tax effective.

Endowment Funds set up at the Community Foundation are generally invested within our overall portfolios. These are managed by Investec Asset Management and UBS Wealth Management. The income from the endowment is awarded in grants.
