What is a Community Foundation?

Introduction

Community Foundations are a type of charitable trust. Each works in a specific geographical area as grant-maker, endowment builder and community leader.

There are over 60 Community Foundations in the UK.

Their purpose is to promote and support local charities through grant-making.

Individual donations plus local knowledge combine to make this possible.
