Karen manages a portfolio of charitable funds at the Community Foundation on behalf of donors. She works with current donors to develop their giving, as well as engaging new donors. She also promotes grant opportunities, assesses applications and manages awards.
Karen has been involved with the voluntary and community sector both as an employee and a volunteer since 1997. Her grant-making career began at the Countryside Agency, where she was responsible for delivering a rural transport programme throughout the North East. Prior to that, Karen was a full-time volunteer and project officer with Groundwork Trust, and spent two years at Sunderland City Council working on local environmental projects.
