Jane supports Mark Pierce in running a range of projects and external funding programmes. She joined the Community Foundation as a Grants Officer in July 2007, and co-managed the Government Grassroots Grants scheme until March 2010.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Jane was a grants officer at the Big Lottery Fund working as an assessor and grant manager on several programmes. Her experience of grant funding began as a policy support officer within Sunderland Council’s regeneration team. For five years she managed the Council’s Strategic Initiatives Budget and undertook policy and research work related to local area regeneration.
On leaving Sunderland Council, Jane undertook a Master’s degree in Regional Development whilst working part time at a local charity. She has also been a volunteer for the RSPCA, the Woman’s Royal Voluntary Service and Prudhoe Hospital.
