Community foundation success at the Charity Awards

Collecting the Charity Award for Grant-making for the Surviving Winter Campaign

Community foundations across the country are celebrating after the Community Foundation Network and Somerset Community Foundation scooped the best grant-making prize at the annual Charity Awards for the Surviving Winter campaign.

Following Somerset’s lead, community foundations collectively raised over £2M to support older and vulnerable people through the winter months by asking those who are receipt of the winter fuel payment, and do not need it, to donate it to the campaign.

The Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland raised over £30,000 in its first year of running the campaign and is hoping to build on that success next winter.
