North East Charity Awards 2017 launched to recognise best of the voluntary sector

An awards night which recognises the best charities in the North East is running for a third year with the philanthropy award, sponsored by the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland and the County Durham Community Foundation.

Last year saw a record number of entries to the awards, with winners including the Percy Hedley Foundation, Children North East and philanthropist Jonathan Ruffer.

Awards will be handed out in 11 categories, with charities, individual volunteers and the companies that support the region’s voluntary sector all getting recognition.

The award categories are:

Outstanding charity support by large companies;

Outstanding charity support by small to medium companies;

Outstanding Individual Contribution to Charity sponsored by Leathers the Accountants;

Uniquely North East Award;

Outstanding Social Enterprise;

Charity Leader of the Year;

Champion Volunteer of the Year, sponsored by Banks Group;

Young Charity Champion of the Year, sponsored by Blueline Taxis;

Philanthropy Award, sponsored by Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland and County Durham Community Foundation;

Small Charity of the Year;

North East Charity of the Year.
